Merzig

Jack Merzig - First Solo - June 13, 2010.

Jack looks like a freshly laundered gulf-coast seagull as he gets the secret PGC handshake from Phil Klauder for his successful First Solo. Jack would really like to dry his glasses - but doesn't have anything dry. Don't worry Jack, less damp days are coming. Congratulations. !!! (Photo by Phil Jones)

(Hey, Goritski wants to know if you still have that t-shirt.)

Rich Kennedy - First Solo - May 28, 2010.

Rich gets the secret PGC damp-shake from Joel for completing his First Solo at PGC on this beautiful Friday afternoon. This is also the first PGC solo of 2010 ... and it starts with the proper aqueous rite-of-passage. A triple dunking !!! ... The crew did a nice job to start off the season. Congratulations, Rich !!! Tris

Tris is a pretty happy camper on his checkride day - happy as a clam.

Jack looks like he is taking the opportunity to scrounge up another rag for Bob Lacavara. Although this may really just be a senior-citizen scam to pick up a free t-shirt. Being on a fixed income is tough these days. But Tris takes it all in stride. Congratulations, Tris !!!.

Tris Colket Checkride - FAA Check Ride - June 20, 2010.

Tris put a lot of effort into preparing for the checkride.  This included the winter PGC ground school, flying with different instructors, and spending time in the clubhouse with flight planning and mock orals.

His very favorite flight maneuver (which he managed to avoid while flying with Randy) is the turning wake box … just ask him.  It really is true that Randy said they needed a tape measure for Tris’s spot landing.  And apparently Tris showed up for his oral with an entire suitcase of books, manuals, plotters, E6B’s, charts, and weather information from DUATS and two separate calls to Lockheed-Martin.  Far be it for Colket to engage in overkill.

Congratulations to Tris Colket, Private Pilot-Glider !

GN

Dan is all smiles after his first Solo at PGC on Saturday August 14, 2010.

GN

Time for a quick photo op ... hey, dog ... that looks like a cool haircut ... hope we don't mess it up ... ;-)

GN

Is this a civics lesson in Washington politics ... or is this the PGC rite of solo passage? Dan is about to find out that it doesn't make much difference. Surf's Up !!!

GN

Dan gets the secret PGC damp-shake from his instructor, Phil Klauder. This is a great achievement - and many more are expected as Dan is only 15. Congratulations Dan .... and can you spell X-C Racing?

Daniel Nowakowski - First Solo - August 14, 2010.
