This ship is a Slingsby T-21 Sedburgh designed at the request of the RAF as a primary trainer.  There were hundreds built and used extensively in an RAF sponsored youth aviation education program called Air Training Cadets. In the middle 80s the RAF decided to modernize their fleet and conducted a RFP competition between Gob 103 and Schleicher K-21. The K-21 was chosen and the T-21s were sold via sealed bids – I obtained 3. There are T-21s all over Europe and Australia as well as in Britain. The ones pictured have been completely restored by John Clipp (son of PGC member Sam Clipp and the custodian at PGC before Jack.) Although huge, the ship is anything but “hard” to fly – but because it was designed to be launched by winch - it is a little challenging on aerotow - especially if the tow pilot does not maintain a speed of 75mph or less.   I flew them in England and found instructors with literally 3000-5000 winch launches and less than 10 aerotows.  The other two I have are in Quitman, Georgia. Actually one of the two in Quitman now belongs to PGC member Gino Dinucci. PGC members, If you get down to S Ga let me know - I have 2-33s 1-26s and T-21s and a 182 to tow them as well as a winch.
